St. Paul's Church is dedicated to the spiritual nurturing of our young members from infancy to young adult age. We realize that not only are they the future of our church but that they are a part of Christ's body now and they need their own programs to develope into mature christians.

St. Paul's Acolyte Ministry

The acolyte is an important person in the worship service and is of great help to the celebrant.
The word acolyte means "follower" or "one who helps". When becoming an acolyte you will be joining the ranks of those who have assisted at worship since 250AD . This is a great opportunity for the youth at St. Paul's to become a part of this important ministry.

For those who accept this position you will be serving as a companion or helper to assist our priest: performing a number of important functions before, during and at the close of the liturgy, whether it is a typical Sunday Eucharist, a marriage, a baptism, funeral or other worship service.

An acolyte team is made up of two Torch Bearers, Junior Server, and a Master Server. These positions have specific responsibilities during the service. When called upon the team may require a Banner Bearer or Thurifer.

After reading this and there are any youth who feels like they would like to become a part of our Acolyte Team please feel free to contact me.

Youth Confirmation – This is a nine-week program including a diocesan weekend retreat. Classes begin in February and conclude in April. We believe the decision to be confirmed is that of the youths. Parents must attend an information meeting prior to the classes beginning. The youths will study such things as God, Son and Holy Spirit, the Old Testament Prophesies regarding Jesus, Church History, the Creeds, the Book of Common Prayer and the Hymnal. There are a variety of session leaders and homework is given. The classes provide the youth with a firm understanding of the promises that were made on their behalf at Baptism they will now be affirming. back to top
